Although Etsy still uses our name and our pictures on Google, they sadly closed our store (we would never abandon our beloved Etsy customers) in 2020. You can read the full story on our about page. Hello! Hello! Hello! And welcome to our new home here on Shopify.   If you're new I just want to let you know we have been around for quite a spell. However, for years we were one of the top shops on Etsy. Then June 3, 2020 changed all of that.  You can get the deets to the story here.  But don't go there just yet. Trust me it's a long sad story, and it's much for fun to take the tour of our new digs here on Shopify.  So let's get started.

 

First thing'ts first---Sample, Sample Sample.

Well you can't smell through the computer just yet.  I know they are working on it somewhere, but for today we've got samples.  Honestly I work really heard to source drool worthy, head turning, OMG yummy scents so you will really be pleasantly surprised even if you don't sample.  However, whether you are a NEWBIE or a Skin Like Butter officionado it's still great to sample.  It's a great way to discover a new fav or three.

Free Samples

I do try to make sure that all orders over $10 do ship with 3 free samples.  However, sometimes it's hit or miss depending on if there are a ton of orders.  If you want to make sure you get your free samples you can go here and add this listing to the shopping cart.  It will add 99cents to the shipping, but if you send me a quick chat before your order I can take care of the 99 cents for you.  The only time the 99 cents actually stays is if you are ONLY ordering the three free samples.  It just helps out with the shipping.

Another way to get free samples is when you order $50 or more.

You will be upgraded to 5 free samples.  Just put your scent choices in the notes and they will be addded to your order automatically.  No listing needed.

Our handmade bath and body make great gifts. However, giving the gift of scent is a bit tricky.  So first things first we we have gift giving scents that are either nuetral, or so popular that you will know for sure that your recipient will love it.  Here is the list of our best gift giving scents

Black Orchid - exact Tom Ford Dupe and great for men and women

Black Pepper- this is great for men and is great for a soap and lotion gift.

Citrus- Smells exactly like those delicious CUTIES in the grocery store

Volcano- A dupe of that super popular candle from Anthropologie.  If you've ever been in the store your have taken a whif of this scent. A perfect blend of fruits and florals.

Watercress- a very clean fresh and slightly floral scent

 

Will it get there in time?

Well much like 2020, 2021 also has logistic and supply line issues.  The deadline for guaranteed Christmas gifts was November 17th.  However, I am on a restock of supplies most of which has arrived, or will arrive by December 1st.  What is a nailbiter is the restock of the body butter supplies, which is our most popular item.  Even before the times we are living in the body butter supplies supplier was extremely slow.  Now even slower.  The order that is in is scheduled to ship on December 10th which will be plently of time for your gift to be made and shipped to make it by Christmas.  However, this year there have been delays with FEDEX, and well as overdue shipping dates for the supplier.  So any gift with Body Butter in the set may not arrive in time.  It may be a little after Christmas.  However here are some for sure safe bets

If you are reading this chances are you are familiar with what happened on Etsy in June.  What happened  in June lead to what happened in November, and that is what lead to me to discover this amazing city Albuquerque.

Why the change from black and green labels to blue and brown labels? Yup. Albuquerque.  Literally the whole city is tan and turquoise. I'm surprised the traffic lights aren't orange, yellow, and turquoise.  

Actually that's not completely it. It's not just the colors in the city. This place has this energy to it.  She says it best here in Forbes Magazine

It's actually something you can feel, rather than see.  You have to be here. Walk here.  I can't put my finger on it. From the unexpected beautiful old neighborhoods, to the mix of all of the cultures it's exotic like she said. I can't even call it an American feel. It's there, but there is much more to it.  It's got this cool, sexy, unassuming vibe to it.  Kind of like you are in on a secret.  An Uber driver said that Albuquerque is one of the best kept secrets in America. I would have to agree. And the thing is it sneaks up on you. 

When I first arrived here from 1-40 I was in tears. I thought what on earth had I gotten myself into.  I moved from this cool beach town to a pit.  Or so I thought.  Then I kept driving, and slowly but surely the secret was revealed--this place is different.  This is like no other place in America.  I tried to take pictures, but it doesn't really do it justice.  I tried to capture the energy in the color of the labels.  They are pretty I have to admit, but it still doesn't come close to the cool energy of the ABQ.  You know what though.  I was in another Uber,  and I heard the most amazing jazz.  He said "Oh yeah we've got a great jazz station here".  That's a clue to the vibe.    There have to be enough people here who love jazz for the station to stay.  That's what I mean by it gives you a clue to the vibe here.  The closest I could get to letting you feel what it's like here is in this playlist.  Hope you like it, and I hope you like the new look.

Candle or Room Spray?

The scent of your home is such an important part of the decor and ambience. Well sometimes a little bit more than the decor when pets are involved --yikes!  In my case it was my culinary endeavors.  My new place is a small loft with no walls.  So although my dishes were tasty I really didn't want my home to smell like lemon garlic pasta, tacos, and tuna salad. Yeah no bueno. You can just imagine what would hit you when you walked in.  So thought for sure I had the answer with this awesome smelling candle I picked up at a cute New Mexican boutique I discovered on my many meandarings here in Abq.  Well not so fast...

Oh I couldn't wait to light her up and enjoy that beautiful scent I enjoyed in the shop....."60 minutes later(in spongebobs voice).." bubkus, nada, nothing. (insert the Price is Right's loser horn)  My home aroma (not odor it wasn't that bad) laughed at that poor candle. The owner was so sweet I didn't return it, but I had to get the scent ambiance I was after.  That clean, upscale white slipcovered sofa with bleached hardwood floors scent. Okay I don't have any of that, but yeah that.  So you may be wondering why I went for a candle instead of reaching for a Skin Like Butter room spray. Well first thing I love burning candles. In fact I used to make candles, and my candles would pack a punch.  Also, since the inventory is so low I didn't want to use the inventory for me just yet.  But I had to go for it and grabbed the Red Currant and made Red Currant Room and Body Spray and wow! Instant heaven.  It smelled so good. It cut through everything, and all you smelled was that clean crisp Red Currant.  Then just to be sure I went out on the balcony and took a deep sniff of that mile high ABQ air (don't recommend) and went back inside and yup still there.  Not a trace of garlic, or basil, or heaven forbid tuna. 

Conclusion, a good room spray or a good candle should be able to isolate ordors. Fabreeze doesn't have a monopoly on that.  Also, if you're not a fan of their scents and you want the right scent then Fabreeze isn't the answer. The trick is buy the candle you smell burning.  If you've ever gone in Anthropologie they are known (or at least they used to) burn this candle called Volcano. OMG it would fill the whole store.  Anthropolie is huge, and that one big jar candle would make that store smell so good.  That is the only way you will know for sure. Well kind of. Any room and body spray from Skin Like Butter is a sure bet and if you live in a large city there are tons of high end candle options available. In a small city or town it's surprising how few the options there are for candles.  Of course there are always a myriad of choices online.  However, in my humble opionion if you have a forest of aromas/odors you'd like to clear I would go with the room spray.
